Setup

Find a Recipe

Pick something you actually want to eat. Ask a parent, ask Grok, or search a recipe site. Cookie and Kate is a good place to look: real ingredients, lots of baked goods, not too fussy.

When you have a recipe, write down every ingredient and how much. That’s your list for the next step.

Grok prompt

Help me pick a baking recipe I can make with a parent. I want mostly real ingredients, not too hard, and something we’d actually eat. Ask me a couple of questions, then give me 2 or 3 ideas.

Then show the recipe to Mom. Ask if any ingredients should be swapped for something healthier before you write the final list.

Task

Check the Kitchen

Take your ingredient list into the kitchen. Check the pantry, fridge, and baking cupboard. Cross off anything you already have enough of.

What’s left is the shopping list. Write it on paper (or a note on a parent’s phone) before you go.

Task

Go to the Store

Before you go, you can check prices and products online at Target or Walmart. You can also ask Grok for a rough price estimate or any shopping tips.

Grok prompt

Here’s my baking shopping list. About how much might this cost at Target or Walmart? Any tips for cheaper swaps or what to look for?

Then go with a parent and buy what’s on the list. Stick to the list unless a parent says otherwise.

At checkout, write down the total amount spent on the ingredients. Keep the receipt or copy the number onto your recipe page. That’s part of the quest, not extra homework.

Task

Bake

Follow the recipe with a parent. Read the whole thing once before you start. Measure, mix, and get it in the oven.

Hot ovens and pans are a parent job if you need help. Clean as you go if you can. Then wait for it to cool enough to eat.

Task

Share and Enjoy

Take a picture of what you made. Send that photo along with the recipe to a parent. Then eat it.

That’s the whole guild run. Next time, a new recipe.
